Updated Storyboard
Now that I'm close to done with my project, I've decided to make an updated storyboard to reflect on the changes I made and to make sure that I have everything I wanted. I made many changes from my initial storyboard. I tried to be more detailed, even if I do have the drawing skills of a first grader.
In my initial storyboard, I have 4 opening shots that include dishes, a kitchen, a bird in the sky, and a flower (?) from a tree. In my initial storyboard, these shots were going to be dishes, a dining table, and a window. I decided to film a few shots outside to represent the fact that even though it's so beautiful outside...inside, the house is lonely and somber, like the man.
I also showed the mans car actually pulling into his driveway instead of the car just being there in order to provide more background. The next few shots are pretty much the same, the man getting out of the car and walking to his door, but I did change how some shots were angled during filming as I wanted to try new things. I added a few more shots in between too, such as flipping on the light switches and putting the man's briefcase in the kitchen instead of the nearest table. My original storyboard had so many empty holes...
One thing that I didn't plan to change though was the fact that the man pulls out food from the fridge and eats it. But, because it was 'Ramadan' when we shot the scene (Muslim holy month where Muslims observe fasting from dawn to sunset), we decided to just go with a Coke can that the man never ends up opening. Even then, I feel like the process of grabbing the food, heating it up, grabbing utensils, blah blah would just take up a lot of time.
The last few scenes play out similar to the initial storyboard, other than shot/angle changes and 1-2 scenes here and there to provide context. The opener ends with a closeup of the man, but instead of zooming out slowly, I decided to zoom in slowly. Most of the changes I made I did on the go during filming, but I'm glad with how it turned out.
