Initial Storyboard

Hi, welcome back! Today I made the initial storyboard for my movie opener (sorry for the quality). It was fun to put what I envisioned for different scenes onto paper, and although my drawings could use a little work, it does its job in conveying what I had in mind for the video. On the left side of the paper, I put notes for the song that will be playing in the background, in case it is hard to see.

On the first paper, it basically details the sort of 'intro' for my video. The first shot depicts insert shots of different things such as a dining table, dishes in the sink, and a view outside a window to try and build an atmosphere. These shots then go over to a shot that I will be taking from the window in my bedroom to overlook my main character walking up the driveway. I tried to draw little cameras on the scenes to specify more where I wanted the camera so I can remember the ideas I had when I actually do start filming. The last shot of this first page shows just one take of the character walking in and putting his stuff on the counter.

For this second page, on the first box, I tried to draw a fridge and the man standing in front of it (even though it's hard to see him). As noted in the description, the phone will be inside the fridge as it opens, I've seen this shot used in other films and want to try and incorporate this too. The second box is a shot that is framed through a window in my backyard, and just films the character getting his food, utensils, etc. Next, I plan to do a wide shot that follows the man all the way to the couch, keeping him in the center of the frame the entire time. For the last box, I tried to depict the actions of the man standing in front of the couch - sitting down - grabbing remote/turning on the tv. For these three actions, I would like to pedestal down from when he is up to when he is sitting down, then stay fixed into one position.

For this last page and first box, I will also be framing it through a window. This will just be a brief clip of the TV turning on. Finally, for the last shot, it is going to be a close up that slowly zooms out, capturing a sad expression on the character's face, and as the music that will be incorporated (TBD) ends, it will cut to black.
