Opening Credits

I watched a bunch of opening sequences to different shows and movies, and although it would be fun to comment all of them, I chose a select few to talk about today !!

The first title sequence is for the film "Are We Done Yet?". It is full of a variety of characters from the cast and has blueprints of houses in the background. The entire tone of the sequence is very comical and lighthearted. The cartoonish art style of the opening contributes to the tone as it gave the creators freedom to pursue all the wacky things that happen to the characters during the sequence.

The second title sequence is for the show "Stranger Things". As the opening goes on, the names of the cast members are lined up on to the screen, and a small area of some of the letters of the show are shown with each pair of names. At the end of the sequence, all the letters come together to spell out "Stranger Things". The sequence evokes a mood of suspense, especially since it is paired with music that conveys that same tone. These two factors get you excited to watch the episode and keeps you intrigued.

The third title sequence is going to be for a game called "The Last of Us". Even though this is a game, the opening credits are in the same format as many other shows or movies. As the sequence progresses, a voiceover of a news broadcast could be heard describing the fictional apocalypse/infection that is spreading in the game. I'm not really sure what's in the background but I assume it has something to do with the brain, since that is what the infection mainly targets. This opening really builds up the world of the game, as well as the immersion, and gives the player background information of the story before they really know what is happening.

The fourth opening sequence is for the show "Arcane". The sequence consists of stone statues of the cast in a series of different poses, varying on which ones suit their character the most. The opening is accompanied by beautiful visuals and the song 'Enemy" by artists Imagine Dragons and J.I.D. Both of these factors convey the dramatic/tense tone of the show, as most of the characters look like they are in distress or in deep thought. The song 'Enemy' portrays the mindset a number of characters have and is perfect for this opening.

Last but not least, the final opening sequence is for the movie "Guardians of the Galaxy". Although the scene starts out relatively serious, it quickly deviates from that narrative and follows Star Lord dancing to the song "Come and Get your Love" by Redbone. This opening sequence is unlike any of the other films in the MCU, so almost instantly this opening lets the viewers know this movie is going to be a bit different than what they're used to.
